“You have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.” — James 5:11 (ESV)
All week we held one thing in view. The Lord is coming. And we watched what that frees a person to do. Open your hands. Steady your heart. Straighten your words. That is not a to-do list. It is just what a person looks like when they are already leaning home.
And here is the tenderness at the end of it. The Judge standing at the door is not coming to condemn the ones who have been waiting for Him. Job lost everything and still saw it — the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
So loosen. Hold on. Mean it.
Tomorrow we gather for the last one. James lands the plane in the rest of chapter five, where the waiting church learns to pray, to lift each other up, and to bring the wanderer home.
Today: Pick the one move you most need this weekend — open hands, steady heart, or straight words — and live it today. Then pray for someone you will see at church tomorrow.
